This is from searches and news stories. And again, there is nothing, no pattern, from that particular piece of information that is overly remarkable so far.”

NPR and other media outlets have previously reported that investigators found images of President Biden, former President Trump, the attorney general and the FBI director on Crooks’ phone.

“From everything we’ve seen, which is consistent with what we’ve learned in interviews—a lot of people describe him as a loner,” Wray said. “That does kind of fit with what we’re seeing in his devices. He has a very short list of contacts, which is much less than the average person’s. There doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of interaction between him face-to-face or digital with a lot of people.”

The day before the shooting, Crooks went to a shooting range and fired an AR-style rifle, Wray said. The director said that he was a fairly avid shooting hobbyist.

Wray did say that Crooks’ AR-style rifle had a collapsible stock, which Wray said “could explain why it might have been less easy for people to observe.”

According to the investigators, Crooks climbed onto the roof where he fired from by using some mechanical equipment on the side of the building. The bureau doesn’t know when the shooter got onto the roof.

He said that a transmitter was found on the body, but it appears that he wouldn’t have been able to explode them if the device’s receiver hadn’t been turned on.

The gunman’s vehicle was searched and investigators recovered the drone with its controller. They were able to reverse engineer the device’s flight path, though they don’t know what exactly was seen or why.

The first time was a week before the event, when he spent roughly 20 minutes there. The second time was the morning of the Trump rally, when he appears to have been on site for roughly 70 minutes, Wray said. The third time was later that afternoon, a few hours before the event — and he never left.

“Having said that, it does appear fairly clear that he was interested in public figures more broadly and, I think this is important, starting somewhere around July 6 or so, he became very focused on former president Trump and this rally,” he told lawmakers.

The FBI has gained access to Crooks’ digital devices, Wray said, but investigators still have not found anything that points to a motive or political ideology.

In his testimony, which comes 11 days after the attempt on Trump’s life, Wray filled in some of the details about the gunman and the timeline ahead of the shooting.

On Wednesday, FBI Director Christopher Wray said the gunman did a Google search before the shooting of “How far away was Oswald from Kennedy,” a reference to Lee Harvey Oswald’s 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

The FBI Director said Wednesday that the man who tried to assassinate Trump conducted an online search a week before the shooting of Kennedy.

“Except in the winter time, when they plow the street, they salt it, he always shifts his salt right there at the stop sign,” said Turney, pointing out the window of his modest brick home at a four-way intersection just outside. He said with a laugh, that it wakes you up.

The 20-year-old man who attempted to assassinate President Donald Trump at a rally grew up in this suburb and it was this that thrust it into the international spotlight.

Federal investigators are still looking into the cause of the assassination attempt, but have not found a clear motive.

Trump gunman’s hometown of Bethel Park reels after assassination attempt: a model for America’s political divisions

Politically speaking, Bethel Park is a reflection of America’s political divisions. The yard where the shooter lived has both Democratic-leaning and Trump signs.

Police tape around the shooter’s house has been taken down; the big broadcast TV trucks have left; the scrum of reporters around the house has been reduced to a sole cameraman.

On the day after the shooting, law enforcement officials knocked on the door of a homeowner on the street and asked if they were related to the shooter.

The shooter’s car had improvised explosives in it. Authorities evacuated Kribs and other neighbors. She was allowed to return around noon that Sunday.

At 12:14 you could see neighbors just walking their dogs, whether they were being nosy or just trying to get back to normal. That’s this community: Let’s just get back to normal,” she said

She said that they have always been known for loving their neighbors, and making sure that everyone knows that they are welcome.

When the shooter left, a teenager rides a bike down the street to escape his ghost – he tells them he does

The day after the police tape was removed from the shooter’s block, a teenager decided to ride her bike down the street. She claimed that it was a different feeling in the air.

She has been haunted by the chatter surrounding the shooter for a long time, but had never spoken to him or his family. She said that everyone is talking about it.

On a recent evening, he sat on his porch and drank a beer as his English Black Lab ran around the yard.
