DeSantis is likely to announce a candidacy on the social media platform

The Crowd: DeSantis, Trump and the Social Media War During the 2016 Early Voting Reionization Session

During the past few months, DeSantis has taken trips to early voting states like Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada as he considers a campaign for president. The culture war in Florida’s recent legislative session resulted in passage of abortion ban, book ban, and drag ban among other conservative priorities.

Musk said that it would be the first time something like this happened on social media and with real time questions and answers. “Not scripted. So it’s going to be live and let ‘er rip. Let’s see what happens.

The choice of Twitter as the platform to announce a presidential run is notable. Donald Trump spent two years banned from the site before getting his account back. He has not tweeted since his reinstatement.

Why did the proto-DeSantis campaign run get kicked off the Fox News platform? Some comments on a report by Tucker Carlson

The likely run was further teased by the wife of the man, who also took to the stage with an American flag backdrop.

Mr. DeSantis’s strategy so far this year may have also increased the likelihood of big swings. There is a renewed conservativealternative to Trump that is one of the two theories for defeating the former president. Of the two, the proto-DeSantis campaign can more easily be interpreted as a version of Trumpism without Trump. If his campaign has done anything, it’s to narrow any disagreement with Mr. Trump — even to a fault. Mr. DeSantis has not made an explicit case against the president. Perhaps worse, he hasn’t punched back after being attacked.

Tucker Carlson, who hosted Fox News, moved his content to the social networking site. The Daily Wire was going to have all of its shows on the platform by the end of the month according to a report.

What the DeSantis Campaign Has to Say About The Republican Party Candidate Lindsey Curnutte: Campaigning to Reconstruct the Demographic Indicators

Lindsey Curnutte, a DeSenatis spokesperson, confirmed the event in an email to The Verge Tuesday. Twitter responded to a request for comment Tuesday with the company’s customary poop emoji auto-reply.

David Sacks, a former PayPal product leader, will moderate the discussion when the announcement is made during the event on Wednesday. Shortly after, the DeSantis campaign is expected to put out a formal campaign launch video before taking to the campaign trail after Memorial Day.

DeSantis is also already trying to combat a narrative that he lacks a certain charm as a candidate. Stories show how he is retail politicking in early states.

The former vice president of the United States, New Hampshire Gov., as well as New Jersey and Virginia governors are looking to get in.

GOP candidates who have risen and fallen are known as cautionary tales. A former Florida governor, a Wisconsin Gov., and a neurosurgeon had moments atop the polls during the 2016 GOP primary campaign.

Because Trump has such a solid hold on a significant slice of the GOP pie, the larger the field, the better for Trump if other-than-Trump Republican voters don’t coalesce around one alternative.

For a lot of conservatives, DeSantis is a younger and less chaotic alternative, but he hasn’t really made an explicit point yet.

Another point that candidates have not made a bigger issue is the fact that Trump is constitutionally limited. If he were to win in 2024, he could only serve four more years.

The attacks, from the serious to the shallow, have shown thatTrump is willing to do anything it takes to win.

That was before Trump and his allies came to the rescue of DeSantis. There have been countless attacks that have gone unanswered and left DeSantis allies wringing their hands.

The continued lies about the president’s loss, as well as losses racked up by candidates he supported in swing states and competitive districts, is giving Republicans pause.

Money is one of the things that DeSantis does have. A super PAC supporting him expects to have a $200 million budget, half of which is going to be devoted to voter outreach in key early states and some 2,600 field organizers, because he has about $90 million left over after his reelection bid for governor last year.

It’s not easy to go from being a congressman to a governor. After Trump’s endorsement, DeSantis became a Republican and won the governorship.

The End of the COVID-19 War? How Donald DeSantis fought against Vladimir Putin in Russia, and why he’s running away

He had an ad run that showed him playing and reading to his children, while one of them was helping to “build the wall” with paper blocks and reading from The Art of the Deal, noting that he loved the part where Trump said “You’re fired.”

DeSantis became one of the loudest voices defiantly opposing the expert guidance of Dr. Anthony Fauci during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic; he pulled stunts, shipping migrants to Martha’s Vineyard and other liberal enclaves and cities run by Democrats; and DeSantis has pugilistically taken on universities, school districts and even Disney for how sexual orientation, gender identity and race are taught in schools.

His Trumpian tendencies have put him at odds with the kind of Republicans who might vote for someone other than Trump. It’s hard to out-Trump Trump, and the people inclined to go a different way than Trump in the primary, tend to be college-educated and wealthier Republicans, according to the February NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll.

After some criticism, he walked that back. He went on to call Russia’s Vladimir Putin a “war criminal,” and added, “It’s just — it’s a messy situation. But Russia did not have a right to go in to Crimea or to go in February of 2022. And that should be clear.”

After months of uncertainty, DeSantis’s decision comes, and Trump has already begun his attacks. Trump and his allies have spent millions of dollars bashing the Governor of Florida, and his polling numbers have crashed, putting him in a deeper hole than expected.

Of course, the fact that he could mount a comeback doesn’t mean he will come back. His campaign’s decision to announce his bid on Twitter tonight forfeits a rare opportunity to be televised live on multiple networks in favor of a feature, Twitter Spaces, that I don’t even know how to use as a frequent Twitter user. Even if his campaign is run differently than it has been, it is unlikely that the Republican candidate would defeat Donald J. Trump.
