What Do We Know About Women and the “Prime”? Don Lemon Laughs with Haley, Limbaugh, and Flores

Lemon made the sexist comments during a Thursday discussion on “CNN This Morning” over former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley’s presidential candidacy.

Haley said liberals couldn’t accept the idea of competency tests for older politicians to ensure they can do the job. “BTW it’s always the liberals who are the most sexist.”

The co-anchors were not sold on the comments, but Lemon continued to advance his case, doubling down in the following hour.

There was a number of people in the organization that he said had heard of Lemon’s remarks.

Licht added that he believed it was necessary to foster a culture of accountability and felt it was important for Lemon to appear at the morning meeting, which took place virtually, so that he could apologize.

“The people I am closest to in this organization are women,” Lemon added, citing his relationships with various hosts and executives. The most people I seek counsel from are women.

The reference Lemon made to a woman’s “prime” this morning was inartful and irrelevant, as colleagues and loved ones have pointed out. The age of a woman doesn’t determine her personally or professionally. I have countless women in my life who prove that every day.”
