What do conservatives and populists say about the election of Donald Trump and Nikki Haley, or what do they want to tell us about their country?
Jason Miller, a senior advisor on the campaign says Trump has not only unified the base behind him, but he’s also brought in new coalition of voters and expanded the party.
— and took a parting shot at Nikki Haley, who is still challenging Trump for the nomination. When it was confirmed, my colleague and I walked around the lobby of our hotel talking to our colleagues about why he didn’t want to stay in the race.
The more establishment, anti-Trump, forces within the party have long been clamoring for this choice, said Alex Conant, who helped lead Senator Marco Rubio’s presidential campaign in 2016.
The tightening race has thrown a spotlight on the identity crisis within the Republican party and the debate between populism and small-government conservatism.
“This message will be sent on Tuesday and will state that Trump has been chosen.” He’s the one,” Rose predicted. We have to prepare ourselves, whether or not we like it or not, for a Biden America, and that’s beyond that.
Luke Rose, a 26-year-old casino dealer, was bowling with co-workers at Yankee Lanes, a downtown Manchester bowling alley. Between turns, he described the way he views the conflict as being between what he calls the “MAGA idealism” of Trump and traditional conservative values of Haley.
Their choice between former President Donald Trump and his former U.N. ambassador, Nikki Haley, will also send a big signal about their feelings on the future of the party.
Phil Palker says he’s one of those Americans. The 59-year-transportation worker, and former Coast Guard navigator, says Trump changed the party and he evolved with the former president.
He said that he was pretty stagnant in his political views. “But ever since Donald Trump started running in 2015, I think his message is revealing to who the party is.”
New Hampshire Primary Trump Haley: What Are We Really Do? Putting Up More Trump Signs on People’s Properties and Businesses
We are freest of all the teams. The amount of freedoms here are unique. We have no sales tax. We have no income tax. Capital gains tax is not on us. The only state that doesn’t have belt law is us. We don’t have a helmet mandate. We have no state-mandated minimum wage. We have constitutional carry. You don’t have to register your firearms. You can buy fireworks here. There is no capital gains tax in our country. We have no inventory tax.
Oh, absolutely. Nobody has a shot. I’ve put up more Trump signs, 10 times more signs, on people’s properties and businesses than Nikki Haley has in the entire state, I think.
Absolutely. I think that the state is very corrupt. We’ve got a dirty governor who’s tied to the bushes. You realize Governor Sununu, whose father was — Governor John Sununu was chief of staff of Bush Senior, who used to talk about the new world order, right?

What New Hampshire Primary Trump Haley Wants to Know About the State of New Hampshire & Why New Hampshire Folks Don’t Know About It
To see what is happening at their events and flag waving. But they’re nothing like this. Who has vendors like this? There is nothing like it. There isn’t anything like it. You will never find — I’ve been —
And then Nikki Haley is just a straight up soulless, like Hillary Clinton — like, Republican counterpart, completely just robot like — who’s the Facebook guy? Mark Zuckerberg style — all the blood drained out of you, dead rock, disgusting, Bill Gates style. Blech. Like, you could just throw all those people in a barrel.

Good humor and bad policy: How much do you need to know about New Hampshire? What can you really learn from Nikki Haley?
It is great. He is just great. He is just funny. He has good humor. And humor is important. People are laughing at the fact that they do not care about policy or everything. But it’s like, humor matters because that’s your soul. It says a lot about someone if they are funny and genuine, and it shows connection to other souls.
You are comparing to your other options, right? So I guess it’s just the closer match, right? Compared to Nikki Haley, who wants to go to war with everybody and — Trump’s usually — errs on the side of, let’s not get involved in that, compared to, let’s get involved in Ukraine, let’s get involved in this Israel conflict, let’s get involved in Afghanistan, let’s get involved in Iraq. Everyone has a pet, let’s get involved. They want. oh, I have a war, I have a war, me too, me too, me too, me too. And Trump says, “It’s kind of stupid.” And so I respect that, you know.

Nikki Haley and the New Hampshire Primary Trump: A Day in the Life and Times of a Beaten America, and I will continue to support Joe Biden
Exciting to be here. And I’ve never been to a Trump rally. It just seemed like it was fun and Trump was hilarious. You can see the guy live.
There’s been a lot of talk how Nikki Haley might be doing better in New Hampshire. Are people in your community talking about who they are going to vote for? Who do you think will win on Tuesday?

If we don’t have a clear path to victory, I can’t ask our supporters to volunteer their time and resources. Accordingly, I am today suspending my campaign.
The current incumbent, Joe Biden, has been said to be superior to Trump. That is clear. I signed a pledge to support the Republican nominee, and I will honor that pledge.
He has my endorsement because we can’t go back to the old Republican guard of yesteryear — a repackaged formed of warmed over corporatism that Nikki Haley represents.

The New Hampshire Primary: What Have You Learned About The First Two-Person Race Between Nikki Haley and Donald Trump?
He focused on issues of wokeness when polling showed that Republican voters cared much more about the border and the economy. He tried to be Trump lite but people wanted real Trump. He was still, at points, painfully awkward.
It doesn’t change anything after he dropped out. It makes official what was already true. New Hampshire is a two-person race between Nikki Haley and Donald Trump.
Because I do think the closer it is to 30, the more pressure there will be on someone like Nikki Haley to drop out. More reason will have to be given for Haley to keep pressing on to South Carolina. So if the polling is correct and Donald Trump does end the night at the top of the results in New Hampshire, how big is that distance between him and Haley?
Obviously, in New Hampshire there’s a lot of Independents who can participate in the primary. There’s more Republicans. I would ask you who you voted for in the New Hampshire primary.

The Run-Up: The First Preliminary Report of the NH Primary Trump Rehearse in New Hampshire (The Runup at the First Day of the Election)
All the telltale signs of a Trump rally are on the street. You’ve got your cars driving past with American flags honking and rallying people up. And you have a big emerging, snaking line outside of the arena for people who are here five, six hours early.
“The Run-Up” is reported by me, Astead Herndon, and produced by Elisa Gutierrez, Caitlin O’Keefe, and Anna Foley. It has original music by Dan Powell, Diana Wong, and Sophia Lanman. It was mixed by Sophia Lanman and Chris Wood and fact checked by Caitlin Love.

What are the final competitive primary days of the New Hampshire Democratic presidential nomination? A question for New Hampshire and the challenge of bringing out our voices?
Follow our feed wherever you get your podcasts to get the latest updates on the show. Thanks for listening.
And the funny thing is I thought we would get a bunch of these kind of primary days in the next couple of months. But because of the unity of the message that we’ve been getting from Republicans, we might have to savor this one, considering it might be one of our final competitive primary days.
Yeah. I mean, I’m excited in the same way that — I think before Iowa, I was really exhausted with the idea of talking about how people were going to vote without them voting. Less polling and more expression of a person’s identity is what I appreciate about these days.
It is not going to have a huge influence in the race for the Democratic nomination, at least at this point.
And the primary challenge of the order is really the challenge for the country. What are we going to do about voices that have been excluded while also enjoying our traditions? Those are not easy questions. But I believe our party will work it out by 2028. And for now, I think whether it’s New Hampshire, Nevada, South Carolina, or Michigan, we’ll all be unified behind Joe Biden.
But when 40 percent of people who were enslaved came through the Port of Charleston and the president is saying that we have to have a recognition of that history in this country and that that voice has to matter, I think people even in New Hampshire recognize the importance of that, but that we also have to recognize the hundred year history here and the history of civic activism.
What I believe is that the president’s motives of wanting to elevate the voices of Black and brown communities was correct, that motive in terms of what motivated him. But it has to be done also with recognizing that history and tradition of New Hampshire so that no one’s delegates get disqualified. And I think that we will work towards that outcome.
You spend so much time here talking to people about the DNC’s decision. I just want to know your personal — was that a mistake for the DNC to switch the order and leave New Hampshire out to dry?
New Hampshire Democrats predicted that it would be true a year later. The state has a state law that requires them to schedule their primary first in the nation. And come Tuesday, they will hold a Democratic presidential primary. President Joe Biden won’t be participating in the primary because it isn’t under the auspices of the DNC. And so he will not appear on the ballot.
So this matters for Biden narratively. But does it matter in terms of delegates? How much does this race matter to Biden?
Yeah. It’s way more about the narrative than it is about the actual logistics delegates that lead someone to be the presidential nominee. Since the DNC is not recognizing New Hampshire’s primary, this is just a state contest that media and voters will follow but will not matter in terms of delegates they count at the convention that officially selects the president. That all starts in South Carolina.

What are the Democrat’s Doing in the Districting Commission? The East Side of the Colonial Northeastern Real Estate
I mean, this is a real colonial Northeast home. We have many yard signs that say, “Write In Joe Biden.” And we have some Biden-Harris signs also on the lawn.
He will be remembered to fill in the bubble by his name. Every one of you needs to do that as well. Your friends and neighbors must be doing that.
After this cycle, we will have plenty of time to make sure that this nation is represented. I think it is important for the states of New Hampshire, South Carolina, Nevada and Michigan to have a critical role. And I think the DNC will figure out how to do that.
Great. And so you mentioned at the beginning of this that the Democrats are here, too. What are the Democrats doing? And what are you watching for in the Democrats’ quarter?
New Hampshire: Nikki Haley, the old guard, and the future of the civil libertarian agenda in the New Hampshire Legislature (New York Times, Jan 24, 2019)
If she decides to stay in this race and make it to South Carolina, I think the next two to three weeks, we’re going to be hearing her really hammer away on these types of attacks to siphon away support for Trump. Because while she can rely on the Independents in this state, by the time she’s going to go back to her home state of South Carolina, no one knows more than Nikki Haley that that’s a real conservative base. The number of Independents really shrink when you go from this state to that one.
She frames herself as the last person who could stop the march to the 2020 re-enactment. I think she’s also sharpened her attacks about Trump’s own deficiencies. She’s gone beyond her normal line of saying that just chaos follows him.
At the event we were at in New Hampshire, she talked about how he cozied up to dictators, talked about how he added money to the national debt, how he didn’t follow through on the general premise of delivering Republican policy victories. She has a core message that she has been saying from the beginning about electability.
Yeah. She has gotten the type of one-on-one match-up she wanted, as a result of the change in her messages from the debates, where she was mostly not mentioning Donald Trump and focusing on her other opponents.
But I wanted to gut check that kind of feeling. And so I grabbed Jazmine Ulloa, the “Times” reporter who has been following Nikki Haley for months, to try to ask her, OK, is this messaging new? And if so, when did Haley start talking about Trump like this?
This is definitely not the typical stump speech. She has really sharpened her argument in the last few days here. She has improved her case against Trump. She’s really been lumping Trump and Biden together as part of this old guard, saying we need to move forward.
Yeah. Most Americans want to see 70s and 80s, not two 80s. But she says, the majority of Americans don’t want to see two 80-year-olds running for president.

What do we hope for next week? How much will the GOP get? How will New Hampshire get rid of security at the Capitol, and what will we do about it?
Mm-mm. We often see this with candidates saying their most sharp attacks the final couple of days. What is the hope of the campaign? Why are they doing this now? Why didn’t they do this two months ago?
I was not in DC on January 6. I was not at the Capitol. You know what? Look at Joe Biden and see what he’s like today. That is what happens. We need to tell the truth about that.
And then yesterday — I don’t know if you saw it — but Trump went on this rant at this rally. And he’s going off how Nikki Haley didn’t allow security into the Capitol. Nikki Haley kept all that from happening. Where was she during the riot? She should have been at the — what is he talking about?
I think she is trying to court them by showing a recent change in tone that shows the importance of independence.
It was the obvious question. Donald Trump dominated in Iowa, but he may be as dominant in New Hampshire. And will Republicans rally around him in such a way that he can get a bigger victory than 30 points?
OK. Astead, it is Monday morning. We are sitting on the floor in the hotel room. Ron DeSantis dropped out of the race. And we’ve spent the weekend talking to Haley supporters and Trump supporters. What are the main things that we should be watching for on Tuesday?
And with all due respect to Iowa, thanks for playing, but give me a break. I mean, do you know Trump got 56,000 votes in Iowa out of over 3 million people? It’s less than 2 percent. Is that going to dictate the choice of the Republican Party? Hell no. I do not think so. Who is going to tell the choice? You guys are. The key to all this is getting out the vote, right? You guys understand. You’re here. The higher the vote turnout, the better the chance of delivering a win. It is possible. It is possible.
You’re damn right you are. Look, we’ve got two, three days to go. The world is watching the country. They’re waiting to see, is New Hampshire going to do it again? Does New Hampshire will show how we do polling again? You’re right, we are. You are darn. right we are. Look, we have been crisscrossing the state. I have been honored to travel.
Right up in Manchester right now, there’s this big Trump rally happening. People are outside. We were outside at 2 PM. People have been there since 7:30, 9:00 AM. How do the Haleys catch up to that level of energy? It seems like there is a different level of devotion.
That is the thing that helps her. Trump is a bully. He’ll lie and say anything that will go for him. He believes people believe in the truth if you tell it many times. He has told a lot of lies.
I told someone who was also working forNikki that I was not sure if this was of benefit to them. She reminds me of the same energy that Hillary had when she was running against Trump. And it is uplifting and motivating.
It isn’t all about her. It’s really about the party and the country and how she can serve us, not how Trump can make himself bigger and better and — yeah.
She first announced. She has been so positive and against the divisions in this country. We need to get the country together. And I think she can do that.

What Do You Think about the First President, Donald J. Trump, and the First Three Years of his Presidency (New Hampshire)?
I don’t know how Trump gets people to believe in him. I don’t know. And I’m personally offended by a lot of his personal values. You know, again, what he did for us was good, the economy and all of that. But his personal values —
Politics are fine. I think he gave a lot to our country. And I wish they would have finished the wall and done a lot of his — the economy was better, all of that. But it’s just — he’s almost like — it’s all about me and thank me, thank me, thank me all the time. He has a large personality and too much about himself. I don’t like the way he treats women.
So you’ve been seeing some of this Trump takeover from afar of the party. What do you think about that? How does that person who tried to pick Bush and Haley end up taking over the party in that time?

Nikki Haley, the candidate for New Hampshire, who is going to win so we’re here, and if she wants to win, what we want to do, when we wanna win
We want to win so we’re here. I flew here to volunteer because I think her coming in strong in New Hampshire really sets her up for other states. So high expectations, but I think she can win New Hampshire.
You know, Iowa, obviously, went Trump’s way by a big margin. He’s leading here. What’s your expectations for him on Tuesday? Is a success something you would consider?
I supported him in both16 and20. There was a deal breaker during the month of January. I think you can put as many good people around him, but he’s still Donald Trump. And I just can’t support him anymore.
I supported him in the previous two elections, but I would say his personality. And I agreed with some of his policies, but I just don’t think he’s what we need right now, so.
So I’ve been with Haley since she mentioned earmarks at the Iowa State Fair. And I think Trump and Biden were both terrible on spending. I think he added to our debt. He increased the deficits. Nikki Haley is a true alternative. She is young, optimistic, and different.
You know, not too far from here, there’s a very raucous Trump rally happening right now. I’m guessing for you all, who prefer Haley, what do you think about the prospect that it could be Trump again, even as people who — I imagine don’t want that to happen?
You think bird brain Nikki Haley can get people to come out this early, this damn cold? I do not see how you can think that. She could not get five people because of her neocon warmongering.
Haley’s campaign laid out a path that she could follow if she got the nomination on March 5, also known as Super Tuesday.
But instead, she finished third in Iowa and immediately started lowering expectations for New Hampshire. As she sprinted from diner meet-and-greets to hotel ballroom rallies, Haley never predicted a win in New Hampshire, instead saying she hoped for a “stronger” finish in the state.
“You’ve all heard the chatter among the political class,” Haley said. “They’re falling all over themselves saying this race is over. I have good news for all of them. This race is far from over. There are many states left to go.
He was joined at his rally Tuesday by former rivals in the GOP contest, including entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and Tim Scott, a South Carolina U.S. senator whom Haley first appointed to the position. South Carolina’s Republican governor, Henry McMaster, who succeeded Haley in that role, is also backing Trump.
New Hampshire seemed like an ideal place for her. Independent voters, known as “undeclared” in the state, could participate in the Republican primary, giving her a boost. Haley and her allied super PACs spent more than $31 million on television ads in the small state, doubling pro-Trump spending. Chris Sununu, the state’s popular Republican governor, was one of the people who advocated for her.
MANCHESTER, N.H. — According to The Associated Press, former President Donald Trump won the New Hampshire primary and is in a good position to secure the republican nomination.
“Don’t Cry!” — Donald Trump’s “Father-State” Demonstration after the Jan. 6 Capitol Storm
We told ourselves that if Trump was impeached, it would be the end of him. The methodical work of the congressional committee investigating the Jan. 6 storming of the U.S. Capitol would seal his political doom. We told ourselves he wouldn’t survive four indictments. We knew that his lies were too outrageous and ornate, and that his outbursts were growing too vicious.
I kept hearing that as political observers made her a myth in order to convince themselves of her power and to make Donald Trump vulnerable beyond Granite State. They wanted so much to believe that Trump’s grip on the Republican Party might be loosening. They wanted to be certain that he wouldn’t return to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
