George Santos is a Representative-elect and his resume may be largely fiction.

Demystifying the Democrat-Republican Relationship to the New York Times: Inquiries on the Accusation and Corrupt Practices of Congressman-elect Santos

His attendance at the New York event, attended by white nationalists and right-wing conspiracy theorists, was evidence of his close ties to Mr. Trump.

The Times uncovered new revelations that add to the potential for ethical and possibly legal challenges when he takes office.

Mr. Santos failed to respond to requests from The Times to provide documents or a résumé that he could use to back his claims on the campaign trail. He also declined to be interviewed, and neither his lawyer nor Big Dog Strategies, a Republican-oriented political consulting group that handles crisis management, responded to a detailed list of questions.

“It is no surprise that Congressman-elect Santos has enemies at the New York Times who are attempting to smear his good name with these defamatory allegations,” said Joseph Murray.

Mr. Santos has said he was born in Queens to parents who emigrated from Brazil and was raised in the borough. He said his father is a catholic and has been in the country for a while. His mother, Fatima Devolder, was descended from migrants who fled Jewish persecution in Ukraine and World War II strife in Belgium. Mr. Santos has described himself as a nonobservant Jew but has also said he is Catholic.

Mr.Santos stole from a man his mother was caring for when he was a teenager, according to court records unearthed by The Times. Police and court records show that Mr. Santos used the checkbook to make fraudulent purchases, including a pair of shoes. Mr.Santos was charged after confessing to the crime two years later.

“I believe that George Santos deserves an opportunity to address the claims detailed in the article,” said Joseph Cairo Jr., the influential chairman of Nassau County’s Republican committee.

Cairo said he looks forward to hearing Santos’ response and that every person should have an opportunity to clear their name.

In a statement to NPR, the school said it couldn’t find a match in its records for GeorgeSantos, who was born in 1988 and graduated in 2010.

However, Murray offered no facts, evidence or documents to contradict the Times article, which also found Santos appears to have fabricated key details of his business career.

Someone who comes from the basement of a apartment in Jackson Heights like me can rise to become a successful business person and then run for congress.

In an interview with WNYC, a gay man claimed that his employees were killed in the 2016 massacre at the Pulse gay night club.

“I happened to, at the time, have people that worked for me in the club,” Santos said. Four of my company’s employees lost their jobs at the time.

The North Shore Leader newspaper had an editorial that questioned the credibility of Santos, who they endorsed in the election.

Santos has yet to address the controversy on his social media feeds but on Twitter he did say he plans to vote for Rep. Kevin McCarthy to serve as House Speaker.
