In his second term, Donald Trump wants to support free in-house fertilization treatments

In vitro fertilization is under attack, and he wants more time to protect women’s freedoms in Florida, not against the “six week ban”

Trump told NBC he’d support public funding for in vitro fertilization, or a mandate requiring insurance companies to cover it. He reiterated the proposal during a town hall in La Crosse, Wisc. Thursday evening, but he did not provide any details on how the plan would work.

We thought it was great so we decided to do this. And we need great children, beautiful children in our country, we actually need them,” Trump said in the interview.

An Alabama Supreme Court decision earlier this year temporarily cut off access to IVF until state lawmakers intervened, forcing many high-profile Republicans to weigh in on the issue.

The Harris-Walz campaign responded to Trump’s IVF comments, saying in a statement that “Because Trump overturned Roe v. Wade, IVF is already under attack and women’s freedoms have been ripped away in states across the country.”

In an NBC News interview, Trump indicated he would vote in favor of abortion rights in Florida, where it is on the ballot. Saying he thinks the “six week [ban] is too short,” he said he favored “more time.”

Abortion is a key issue in this election, with Democrats warning voters that Republicans would further restrict access to reproductive healthcare if former Trump is elected.

“There is only one candidate who trusts women and will protect our freedom to make our own health care decisions, and that’s vice President bukama Harris,” the statement from spokeswoman Sarafina Chitika said.

His former vice president, Mike Pence, was a critic of that statement. The 19th-century anti-obscenity act, the Comstock Act, was used to restrict abortion in the 19th century. That statement also drew pushback from some activists.

The first interview of CNN’s Kamala Harris: Clinton voices support for irreducible reproductive rights in the post-Roe reproductive rights landscape

Harris sat down with CNN for her first interview as the Democratic presidential nominee. She was joined by her running mate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. She talked about her policy differences and said that if elected she would appoint a Republican to her cabinet. She’s been accused of flip-flops on issues such as southern border enforcement. She was also accused of dodging interviews. How did Harris do? There are six things to take away.

The town hall was held in Wisconsin which is a battleground state. In addition to his normal talking points on immigration and inflation, Trump started the town hall with a question about IVF, a surprise political issue in the post-Roe reproductive rights landscape.

The deadliest listeria outbreak since2011 has claimed nine lives and resulted in more hospitalizations. The cases stem from contaminated Boar’s Head deli meat. The factory has recalled millions of pounds of products. The first recall was issued in July and linked to a ready-to-eat liverwurst product. Since then, it has expanded to dozens of products, including sliced ham varieties, sausages and loaves, all of which were manufactured at the same Virginia plant as the liverwurst.
