Joe Biden called LSU forward Angel Reese after the championship win

The First Lady and the White House: Why the Tigers are Jokes, and Why the Huskies were Joke: A Reflection on a Conversation with the First Lady

There was a fight between the first lady and the basketball champion about their White House visit.

Biden also spoke with the Tigers’ head coach, Kim Mulkey, the White House said, and left a message for Dan Hurley, head coach of the men’s championship-winning UConn Huskies, to offer his congratulations and invite both teams to the White House.

Reese, who never had her school’s support for her plan to not attend the White House visit, used her powerful voice on Friday to de-escalate the White House controversy.

“I know my team probably wants to go for sure, and my coaches are supportive of that, so I’m going to do what’s best for the team. We will make a decision if they want to go, and then we will go.

Reese said that in the beginning, they were hurt. We know how hard it is to work for everything, so it was emotional for us. Just being able to see that, that hurt us in the moment.”

On Tuesday, Biden appeared to walk back the comments, with first lady’s press secretary saying that they were intended to applaud all women athletes. She looks forward to celebrating the LSU Tigers on their championship win at the White House.”

“So I know we’ll have the champions come to the White House, we always do. So, we hope LSU will come but, you know, I’m going to tell Joe I think Iowa should come as well because they played a great game.

The NCAA champion, Reese, responded to Biden’s comment by calling them a Joke, and also commented on an post from The Shade Room. Period.

Alex Morris asked the first lady if her team could celebrate their win at their house after Barack wished them good fortune.

The Rise of the Bullies: The Case of Justin Jones and Gloria Johnson Against Gun Reforms in the House of Representatives in Tennessee

But then, you grow older, the bullies get bigger, and more stealthy at systemically devaluing your humanity. You come to realize that the injustice is part of society, whether it’s from teachers, coaches, police or the political system.

In Tennessee last week, three Democratic lawmakers used the power of their voices to protest for gun reforms after a shooting at a Nashville Christian school left six dead — three 9-year-olds and three adults. Citing rules against breaking House decorum, the legislators of the majority-Republican body shockingly voted to expel only the two Black politicians — Reps. Justin Jones of Nashville and Justin Pearson of Memphis, both in their 20s. The third lawmaker, a 60-year-old White woman named Gloria Johnson, was not expelled.

These are democratically elected voices who dared to challenge the status quo and were immediately shut down by the most draconian of measures. Two were kicked out of the legislature and one was saved.

Both Jones and Pearson intend to lead the fight for reforms to gun laws in their state. And Johnson, for her part, is asking for the community to stand by Jones and help to get him back in the House.

What Happened to Reese and Biden: The Myths of a Black Woman who Dwarfly Stopped Biden from the White House

Reese spoke up for her own dignity and sparked a necessary conversation about the pervasive racial bias in both politics and sports media. A media storm broke about LSU, a majority black squad, because of the star’s race. Clark is the leader of the largely White Iowa team that lost the championship.

Many in the Black community felt that Reese was being disrespectful to Biden with his reasons for wanting to skip the White House visit. Her critics were vocal at times, as well as toxic. They were unhappy with her tone.

Addressing her concerns would have meant acknowledging her truth and having a conversation with a specific demographic of young Black women.

My mother says it is difficult to follow no matter how old you are. It can come at a high price if you are black, which is why Jones and Pearson found themselves in that situation last week. How many times will we as a nation accept the status quo when those in power try to silence young voices, specifically Black or brown Americans who try to practice my mother’s sage advice and use their voice?

Too many Americans are forced to see how their lives have changed when Democrats hold political power. They are frustrated by the lack of progress they see on issues ranging from voting rights and police reform to school safety, gun reform, even the much talked about slavery reparations President Joe Biden spoke about while campaigning.
