South Korea’s President is facing an impeachment vote over his martial law order

Revoltions against the Biden administration: The legacy of General Relativity to the South Korea and to the end of the Korean revolution

Opposition parties and many experts accuse Yoon of rebellion, citing a law clause that categorizes as rebellion the staging of a riot against established state authorities to undermine the constitution. They say that the president in Korea can only declare martial law during wartime or other emergencies and that he has no authority to suspend parliament’s operations.

The huge crowds of protesters massed outside the National Assembly and around the country erupted in celebration, many of them waving light sticks.

“Although I’m pausing, I’d like to keep on going because my journey for the future with the people over the past two and a half years shouldn’t stop.” he said.

The Democrats hailed the impeachment as proof that the people are the owners of this country, and that they won the first round of the struggle.

The future of the Republic of Korea will be in danger if forces and criminal groups are allowed to cripple the country’s government and disrupt the nation’s constitutional order.

His supporters either abandoned or were arrested as his explanation of the events crumbled, he became isolated.

So many military commanders were suspended from their duties because of their roles in the martial law decree that concern spread that the South was militarily unprepared to deal with a potential North Korean aggression, although the military dismissed such ideas.

While Yoon’s popularity withered at home, he remained a popular figure with the Biden administration, which Yoon helped to achieve some of its key Asia policy aims, most notably tightening trilateral cooperation among the U.S., South Korea and Japan.

The opposition claimed that theYoon administration ignored geographical balance by alienating North Korea, China and Russia and pursuing an “unusual pro-Japan stance.”

Local media report that U.S. officials asked opposition politicians, after the first impeachment motion, about such language questioning what the Biden administration considered some of its signature achievements in the region. The language in question was removed from the second impeachment bill.

Protests against the attempted impeachment of the president: Thousands of protesters in Seoul and the government are also facing arrest in the martial law case

In the last two weeks, tens of thousands of people have poured on the streets of the capital in order to demand the resignation of the president and his arrest. They waved K-pop light sticks. Smaller groups of Yoon’s conservative supporters — still in the thousands — have also been rallying in Seoul, denouncing attempts to impeach the president. Both rallies have been peaceful.

“Many people are using idol light sticks even though they are expensive. Hong Gayeong, a 29-year-old protester, believes that it has become a great culture because people are bringing their most precious possessions to express their will and opinions.

The Democratic Party and five other opposition parties control the 300-member unicameral parliament with 192 seats, but they are eight seats shy of the two-thirds majority needed to approve the impeachment motion.

The police chief, the defense minister and the metropolitan police agency’s head were arrested for their roles in the martial law case. Other senior military and government officials also face investigations.
