The Democratic Pollster says that this is Grim

Why Biden and the Democratic Party should not be seen as elitist, nor should they be seen in the media? Commentary on Hacker and fellow democrats

They have abandoned the core values that animated them in the first place and will never come back to him. Biden did not liberalise his administrations approach to immigration, but he did not leave much of the Trump era policies in place. Many young voters may feel betrayed, since they were first attracted to Biden’s social progressivism. Additionally, Biden has seemed to greenlight Israel’s campaign of violence against civilians in Gaza. Especially for young voters of color, this seems like a betrayal and could cost Biden crucial states such as Michigan.

Ryan Enos, a political scientist at Harvard, warned that there are major consequences that could result from the weakness of Biden’s support. In an email, Enos wrote:

Conservative media have relentlessly focused on this critique and there’s strong evidence that media framing shapes how voters view the parties. Indeed, the role of the media in shaping the negative current climate — including more mainstream sources — should not be neglected. The obsessions of right-wing media with the “wokeness” of the Democratic Party seeps into the broader media coverage, and mainstream sources focus on criticisms of the Democrats, in part to uphold their nonpartisan ideal.

Critics of the party say Democrats have not changed their orientation. In particular, the party has not shifted its emphasis from economic to social/identity issues, nor has it moderated its economic positions overall. Instead, it has focused on an ambitious economic program that involves a range of policy aims and instruments that are more broad-based than in the past, as well as levels of public spending that dwarf those contemplated.

Hacker and three other people found that the Democratic New Metro Coalition was the cause of redistribution when they were working to write the paper.

Jacob Hacker, a political scientist at Yale, contended that the view of Biden and the Democratic Party as elitist and weak on the very values that were Democratic strengths in the past lacks foundation in practice. Instead, the adverse portrait of the Democrats represents a major success on the part of right-wing media — and a complicit mainstream media — in creating a false picture of the party.

They have less than a year to change their sights after aiming at the wrong target. It involves putting high prices and living costs at the forefront, embracing cultural pragmatism, confronting left wing radicalism on the border, public safety and Israel, and embracing a post-populist economics that speaks to working Americans’ hopes for growth and upward mobility rather than their sense of economic victim

Even as their base is smaller, Democrats were pushed far to the left. Young progressives have identified the party with stances on immigration, crime, gender, climate change and Palestinian resistance that are so far from mainstream sentiment that they can even eclipse MAGA extremism.

Will Marshall, president and founder of the center-left Public Policy Institute think tank, responded to my query with an emailed question: “Trump is Kryptonite for American democracy, so why isn’t President Biden leading him by 15 points?”

because these are issues on which our active, progressive base is split. But if you are silent on these issues, it is like an admission of guilt to voters. They think that you do not care about their real concerns. The left need to give Biden some space so he can get the story out to the middle.

Biden has a record on cracking down on crime and has a credible record on border enforcement but he is not promoted by the administration.

Biden was the only one who didn’t raise his hand on the question of whether or not he wanted open borders. He also loudly and repeatedly voiced his opposition to “defund the police” and never ran away from the 1994 crime bill that he authored in the Senate.

The perception that Biden had a better brand than the Democrats helped him win in 2020. That brand advantage over the Democratic Party is now gone. Exhibits A and B are crime and immigration. Biden was thought to be more of a deterrent on crime than a typical Democrat.

Biden’s All Things Consideration: Where Do We Stand? What Do We Need? How Do We Feel About the Economic Status of the United States?

The price of gasoline has fallen 20-cents to a national average of $3.24 a gallon. Headline and core inflation have begun their final descent toward benign, historic levels. Interest rates have fallen about 40 basis points in the past several months. Themisery index could be at a level that is incumbent friendly.

And so does Joe Biden. And so our campaign is going to continue to double down, communicate on what the president has done, try to draw that correlation and make sure that Americans know that the president’s doing it, and honestly continue to address other things that Americans are bringing to us day in and day out, with what they feel about the direction of this country, and try to address those, as he and the vice president promised they would do.

And at a time where there is a lot of foreign policy stuff going on, there’s economic stuff going on. We need a leader that has experience in doing that.

The president will double down and get their support in order to make life more affordable and easier for them. The difference between that and what the Republican Party is putting forward, whether thats Donald Trump or not, is stark. And that’s just on the economic front.

Despite the economic numbers that show that many people are doing well in the US, voters are not happy with the way the economy has been handled by President Biden. Do you have a message for those who think Biden’s record has been bad the last few years?

Shapiro: You’re saying this is kind of an echo of a debate that the country had four years ago. Does your campaign believe that if this is a Biden-Trump matchup, there are still undecided voters to be won over? Most people know that the two candidates were on the ballot, but how do you feel about them?

Now we’re in 2024. Donald Trump would be a dictator if he were to gain power, that he would stand for the NRA, and that he would brag about whipping away a woman’s right to choose.

Biden’s principal deputy campaign manager, Quentin Fulks, talked to Ari Shapiro on All Things Considered about the campaign’s strategy for Trump and how they intend to win over voters once again.

Biden made remarks to donors that have made a difference. In the Boston area on Tuesday, he said that he might not run if Trump wasn’t running.

The president had promised to restore the soul of this nation because of the threat that Donald Trump posed to democracy and the fabric of our country.

You know, Ari, it is a little bit disheartening that we’re having this [discussion] when at the same time Tuesday, Donald Trump promised that he would rule as a dictator on Day 1.

I think that the comments of the president underscore the dangers that we need to keep our country moving forward, and not turn it over to someone who is going to be a dictator.

Fulks: Look, our campaign doesn’t take any voters for granted, and we understand that we have to do everything we need to do to communicate with voters in a very fractured media environment, to meet voters where they are, to talk to voters about what matters to them.

But at the end of the day, if it’s a referendum between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, we’re confident that American voters are going to turn out and vote for Joe Biden. In 2020 we’ve seen it. It was seen by us in 2022. We have seen it this year.

Shapiro: But as you think of the campaign strategy, you could be focused on motivating the base. You could be focused on getting to the ballot. You could be focused on winning over undecided voters.

I have a feeling you’re going to say, “We’re taking a both and all-of-the-above approach.” Do you believe there are enough undecided voters that could make a difference in the election?

Is Donald Trump Right? A No-Go Theorem Concerning the Importance of Taking Action against the 2020 Global Epidemic

This is not a monolithic audience as a people. Regardless of the constituency you put that label on, they’re not monoliths, particularly if it is African American voters, women or young voters.

Donald Trump had done absolutely nothing to help with the global epidemic that killed a lot of Americans and other people around the world in 2020.
