Donald Trump speaks behind bulletproof glass at a first outdoor rally since attempted assassination in ASHEBORO, N.C.
“I think the Democrats are going to do all they can to keep her in the spotlight so that she doesn’t go away,” she said.
Lisa Watts, a retired business owner from North Carolina who was attending her fifth Trump rally, said she’s very positive about the race against Harris.
“We need to be strong because otherwise we’re going to be very sorry,” says a retired flight attendant who was bullish on the Republican’s chances.
Trump won North Carolina by large margins. The state delivered the former president his closest statewide margin of victory four years ago and is once again considered a key battleground in 2024.
In light of the importance of the election in North Carolina, Trump’s second visit in a week was reflective of that. He gave a speech in North Carolina about the economy.
ASHEBORO, N.C. — Donald Trump spoke from behind bulletproof glass at an event focused on national security at an outdoor rally in North Carolina. He called Barack Obama “nasty” for his comments at the Democratic National Convention.
In his keynote speech to the Democratic gathering in Chicago, where he wassailed for being a threat to the nation should he return to the White House, Trump blamed President Biden and Vice President Harris for the Afghanistan withdrawal and the wars in the Middle East.

The Millennials: What Are They Really Teaching Us About the Modern-day Social Problem and Why Does the Democrat Want to Be Closer to the President?
The former president asked if the crowd had seen the speeches by the former presidents at the Museum and Hall of Fame, because he was the GOP nominee.
He was taking shots in your president’s direction. And so was her. They always tell Sir, please stick to policy. It’s not appropriate to get personal. He asked “Do I still have to stick to policy?” after they said they were getting personal all night.
Storage containers were stacked around the perimeter to create additional walls and block sight lines. Snipers were positioned on roofs at the venue, where old aircraft were sitting behind the podium and a large American flag was suspended from cranes.
Trump’s weeklong series of counterprogramming to the Democratic National Convention was focused on national security issues. Allies have been urging him to focus on policy instead of personal attacks against Harris as he struggles to adjust to Biden’s departure from the race.
The second night of the Democrats’ convention Tuesday was a highly energized affair that featured speeches from both Obamas, who went after Trump in particularly biting terms.
“His limited and narrow view of the world made him feel threatened by the existence of two hardworking, highly educated, successful people who happen to be Black,” Michelle Obama said.
Obama called Trump a 78 year-old billionaire who has been whining about his problems since he rode down the golden escalator nine years ago, and mocked his obsession with crowd sizes.
“It’s been a constant stream of gripes and grievances that’s actually gotten worse now that he’s afraid of losing to Kamala,” the former president said.
In rallies and social media posts, Trump has settled on “Comrade Kamala” as a moniker for his new opponent, trying to tie the Democrat and the policies of the current administration to communism.
The presidential campaign gets closer to its final weeks, though, as Harris takes the stage tonight to close out the DNC, while Trump still looks on from the past.
The Trump Era: A Repulsive Example of a Cold War and a Black Hole: The Case Against a Top Down Military Officer
He repeatedly referenced the Biden administration’s withdrawal from Afghanistan, and said that, if he wins, he will ask for the resignation of every senior military official who was involved.
He pledged to get “critical race theory and transgender insanity the hell out of our U.S. armed forces.” Biden reversed a Pentagon policy that limited the ability of Transgender individuals to serve in the military.
He said “our warriors should be concentrating on defeating America’s enemies, not figuring out their genders.” The Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force, Space Force, and the United States Marines will not allow you to have a sex change or a social justice seminar.
“We’re going to make it so hot that I’d like to resign and join the military,” joked Trump, who received deferments for a variety of reasons, most notably because he had bone spurs in his feet.
Trump and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance of Ohio, took jabs at their vice presidential pick, Minnesota Gov. Timothy Walz, before Trump took the stage.
Walz was criticized for retiring from service before his unit was deployed to Iraq, as well as for mischaracterizing his service record as an Army National Guard member.
Since Biden quit the race a month ago and Vice President Harris jumped in, Trump has not really altered his message to appeal to an audience that is clamoring for new material.
But even then, the presidential putdowns have lost their edge since his first run for office in the 2016 election and are increasingly buried by Trump’s nonsensical asides.
Donald Trump is in the GOP hall of fame, but lately he has sounded more like a old rock star stuck in the past, and doesn’t always have his new riffs in tune.
Trump’s remixed rallies try to change the tune from ‘Crooked Joe’ to ‘Comrade Kamala’
He asked what happened to Biden and said that they were going to fix every single problem. “I was running against Biden, all of a sudden, I’m running against somebody else. It is true! I said it was interesting and asked, who am I running against? Harris?’ I said, ‘Who the hell is Harris? You know. Who the hell is Harris?’”
There’s still time for Trump to remix his pitch, as the GOP emphasizes immigration and the economy as two issues that they hope resonate more with voters.
“I said, close the border: I didn’t have a bill, I didn’t need a bill, she doesn’t need a bill,” he said. iden does not know where he is. So where is he? Whatever happened to him? He got out of the car. He got out. He’s now sunbathing. He’s at a beach.

On the use of Trump’s “Hold On, I’m Coming” song before a Montana event and a lawsuit by Hayes
A music artist objected to the use of a song before a Montana event, asking if it was really that song.
Plus, the family of songwriter Isaac Hayes filed suit this week over the use of Trump’s frequent outro song “Hold On, I’m Coming” which Hayes co-wrote for the group Sam and Dave.
