The South Carolina Republican presidential primary ends today

What’s Happening in Haley’s Campaign: The South Carolina Democratic Primary on March 5 – A Story It Has Been Done

Campaign ad spending crossed the $300 million threshold this week and a super PAC supporting Haley, SFA Fund Inc., has led the way, spending more than $63 million.

Even though Trump appears to have majority support in the party, there is clearly a wealthy and significant segment of those right of center who want her to stay in and, to this point, are willing to spend to do it.

She expressed her concern about Trump regaining the presidency. I have more of a concern about Joe Biden being president. Both of these men have done nothing but give us chaos and division.

So far, Haley has been doing best among voters who are more moderate, as well as Republican voters who are open to an alternative to Trump. In New Hampshire, which has a large share of independent voters, Haley got 43% of the vote. Trump won the primary, though, with 54% of the vote.

“We know that the math is challenging,” said campaign manager Betsy Ankney on a call with reporters, “but this has never just been about who can win a Republican primary. The fight in this year is about who can win in November, defeat the Democrats and get our country back on track.

She’s also expected to lose her home state of South Carolina in Saturday’s GOP primary. The polls show Donald Trump with a big lead.

Super Tuesday, which lands on March 5, is the single biggest primary day of the year with voters in 15 states and one territory going to the polls to cast their preference for a nominee. It’s an expensive endeavor to try and win over voters in that many states, and the demographics of those states don’t line up in Haley’s favor.

The campaign of Haley is acknowledging the race is uphill and will be launching a seven figure national cable ad buy that will last at least through Super Tuesday.

Republicans say the party has changed a lot in the state since then. Matt Moore, who previously served as the chairman of South Carolina’s state Republican Party, told NPR’s Don Gonyea that the GOP there is “a much different party than when Nikki Haley was governor.”

Fifty delegates are up for grabs in South Carolina today, and all of them will be awarded to the winner. Some states divvy up delegates according to a candidate’s vote share. South Carolina’s system is winner take all.

According to state figures, over a million people participated in South Carolina’s Republican primary. In this year’s primary, voters have already cast about 205,000 ballots during an early voting period, which ran from Feb. 12-22.

South Carolina will not be going anywhere until Super Tuesday, but I WILL GO UNTIL THE NIGHT AFTER THE ELECTION

She promised to keep campaigning until the last person votes. She later told NPR she would stay in though at least Super Tuesday, which is on March 5.

“South Carolina will vote on Saturday, but on Sunday I’ll still be running for president,” Haley said during a campaign speech in Greenville, S.C. “I’m not going anywhere.”

“I haven’t actually sat down and thought about what comes after that,” Haley said. While our goal was to have people’s voices heard, another 20 states have voted, and that’s more of the representation we want.

Voters in South Carolina are more conservative than in other parts of the country. That’s even though she was elected twice as governor of the state about a decade ago.
