There is an opposition to Speakership by McCarthy’s supporters.

The Campaign for the Second Amendment: A Brief Interview with Kevin K. Emmer and his Congressional Subcommitte to the National Republican Congressional Committee

In his interview, Trump said he is friendly with many of the lawmakers who are opposed to McCarthy and that many of them are supporters of his.

The National Republican Congressional Committee was privately critiqued by Trump aides and allies due to the GOP’s underwhelming gains in the mid-term elections. CNN has not yet projected which party will control the lower chamber, though Republicans appear on track to gain a narrow House majority. Emmer is competing against Rep. Jim Banks, an ally of Donald Trump Jr., for the position of House GOP whip.

More context: Trump has been eager to lock up public support from Republicans for his third presidential bid, with a separate GOP source saying he has been asking to see which GOP lawmakers have endorsed him in the media.

“Look, I think this: Kevin has worked very hard. I think he deserves the shot,” Trump said Friday in an interview with Breitbart News. “Hopefully he’s going to be very strong and going to be very good He will do what everyone wants.

Congressional Leaders are Predicting the Next Biggs Deal: Corrupt Practices and Charges in the House of Representative Kevin McCarthy

The former president cited a situation in which the House Speaker resigned after clashing with hard-liners and was replaced by Paul Ryan.

McCarthy proposed on a private phone call that Trump should resign, after the January 6, 2021, insurrection, which led to a brief falling out between McCarthy and Trump. But the two quickly made amends with McCarthy traveling to meet Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida just a few weeks later.

McCarthy said Friday that the five conservative holdouts – Reps. Matt Gaetz of Florida, Andy Biggs of Arizona, Ralph Norman of South Carolina, Bob Good of Virginia and Matt Rosendale of Montana – have not budged in their opposition to him and offered dire warnings that House Republicans’ hard-fought narrow majority could be derailed if they don’t bend.

The House Republican agenda will be jeopardized by the detractors who threaten to put it in peril and basic decisions on legislating will be all in jeopardy, according to a radio interview with House Republican Kevin McCarthy.

McCarthy’s comments represent a sharp escalation in his public pressure campaign against critics, including Biggs, who last week announced his own bid for the speaker’s gavel.

The editorial board said that the Republicans couldn’t shoot straight since Election Day, except at one another.

The outgoing Republican says he is concerned about the country’s future if former President Donald Trump doesn’t be charged with a crime related to the January 6 attack on the US Capitol.

If this is not a crime, I have no idea what it is. The lawmaker told Dana Bash on CNN that if a president can cause an insurrection and not be held accountable, there is no limit to what he can do.

Kinzinger was on the House select committee that investigated the Capitol riot. In a statement last month, the panel stated that there is evidence to prosecute Trump on multiple criminal statutes and that the public is aware of it.

The committee referred Trump to the department on at least four criminal charges: obstructing an official proceeding, defrauding the United States, making false statements, and assisting or aiding an insurrection. The panel said in its executive summary that it had evidence of a possible conspiracy to harm or impede an officer.

In practice, the referral is effectively a symbolic measure. It does not require the Justice Department to act, though special counsel Jack Smith, who was appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland to investigate Trump, has requested evidence collected by the select committee.

The Future is Not the Future of the Country Unless It Corrects, and Kevin McCarthy is Responsible for Trump’s Political Resurrection

Kinzinger told Bash the GOP is not the future of the country unless it corrects, and said Kevin McCarthy is responsible for Trump’s political resurrection.

“Donald Trump is alive today politically because of Kevin McCarthy,” he said. “He went to Mar-a-Lago a couple weeks after January 6 and resurrected Donald Trump. He is the reason Donald Trump is still a factor.”

The congressman said he was honored to be at the moment and that he had done the right thing by sticking to his guns on Trump.

The Illinois Republican, who did not seek reelection last year, said he would not do “one thing differently” but would not miss being in Congress. Kinzinger told Bash he didn’t intend to run for president in 2024, and he said it would be fun to debate Trump.

“I know who I work with in Congress. There is a group of people who are middle class. Kevin Brady from Texas said that the middle class is serious about their jobs, so you don’t see them or hear them much.

The final vote in the Intersection Against Corrupt Practices: Kevin McCarthy, the conference commissioner, and Isheev Yakubo

Kevin McCarthy is very knowledgeable about the conference. He’s worked with folks across the whole spectrum,” Brady said. I think he can get these final votes together.

According to two sources familiar, McCarthy is holding a conference call on Sunday as he works to get the support of at least 218Lawmakers in the upcoming vote.
